John, Abhishek shoot an additional song for Dostana
It's customary for two stars to be pitched against one another in real life whenever they are paired on screen. The last time we heard murmurs of discontent was when Bipasha and Deepika apparently couldn't stand one another while shooting Bachna Ae Haseeno.
But John and Abhishek get along like a house on fire. To their regret, they had to shoot a music video for Dostana separately.
Producer Karan Johar who just landed in Mumbai after two weeks of location hunting in Los Angeles says the song 'Maa Da Ladla' was shot during his absence. "I left it entirely to my director Tarun Mansukhani and to the choreographer Feroz (who's been Farah Khan's assistant for ten years). So you'll have to ask Tarun what happened."
Tarun Mansukhani has his own explanation for why Abhishek and John shot the song separately. "I deliberately didn't shoot the song with John and Abhishek together. I wanted at least this one song 'Maa Da Ladla' to look different from the rest of the film where they're constantly together, fooling around, chumming it up. They shot individually, so the masti of the rest of the movie was missing on the sets." Tarun trails off sadly, and then perks up. "The last shooting before this was for 'Desi Girl' where all of us were together. It was so much fun."
The 'Maa Da Ladla' song was shot on 15, 16 and 17 October at Filmistan studios and onlookers watched Abhishek and John arrive on separate days. "This is a music video which we'll use for promotion and probably for the end titles," explains Tarun.
Says Abhishek, "It was wonderful to shoot with John Abraham again after Dhoom. It was fun on the sets because we were all friends."
Adds John, "Abhishek is not co-star or colleague. He's a friend. I dote on him. I love him to death. We never compete. We complement each other in Dostana. We share a great chemistry. Abhishek and I are a couple in the film."

Subhash K. Jha speaks about Golmaal Returns
Hey hey hey...Golmaal returns. Is that reason to rejoice? Can't say? Beyond a point only one question bothered me. What was Kareena Kapoor doing in this corny concoction? Playing a fan of the Saas-Bahu serials she's named Ekta, as a homage to the soap queen Ekta Kapoor whose brother incidentally plays Kareena's bro in Golmaal Returns.
Cute, na? The sequel to the successful Golmaal is filled with inhouse jokes, like that time when Ajay Devgan weaves the titles of his films into the dialogues. Or the hilarious takeoff by that talented Ashwini Kalsekar on Rani Mukherjee's randy tart's act from Sanjay Bhansali's Saawariya....it's a rare moment of genuine laughter in this comedy of earsplitting guffaws, all emanating from the screen rather than out of it.
Fast, furious and fatuous Golmaal Returns isn't quite that Diwali blues-chaser you expect it to be. The comic timing though skilled, is wasted by the actors in sequences that try to breathe fire into a burnt-out oven.
No wonder the comicality is half-baked and often repetitive. The jokes from the first film are extended into the second, often with far-from-funny results. Many large sections of satire just lack attractive attire.
But Tusshar Kapoor is a howl. And a whine. And a whoop. And a snivel. Since he is mute, he sharpens his ability to emote through jungle calls. He's a revelation.
The camaraderie among the cast is quite evident. The male actors bond with gusto and Shreyas Talpade who is the new recruit to the revelry joins in without skipping a beat. His comic timing is delightfully sinewy.
But what happened to Arshad Warsi? His quick entry-and-exit cops routine begins to get on the nerves after a while.
Though Tusshar and Talpade whip up a wacky humour .Most of the material about a suspicious wife and several red herrings strewn across a path that's self-consciously forged on the grounds of Hyderabad's Ramajirao Studios, is very old-fashioned in its approach to slapstick humour. Crowds hover around studio-built malls and streets trying to look casual.
They provide a rough and random backdrop to what's basically material for a sex comedy on stage.
The characters run in breathlessly, say their jokey suggestive lines, fall over each other in rituals of suggestive laughter and then fall out of the frames waiting for the next gag to beckon them. It's all supposed to be hilariously funny. But is often just a pretext for more a pantomime of parody than the real thing.
At the end, there's a threat for a third segment of Golmaal. It would all depend on how much returns Golmaal Returns manages to bring in. Going by the audience's riotous response, it seems no-brainers are eminently fashionable.

Aishwarya - most bankable Bollywood star in at 35
Bollywood's blue-eyed-girl Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who celebrates her birthday Saturday, continues to woo Indian filmmakers with her international appeal, making her one of the most bankable stars in the Indian film industry.
Says popular film critic Taran Adarsh: “Aishwarya's career graph has been very good though not excellent but she is the only actress who can attract national and international crowds. She is the face of so many international brands and a very good actress also.”
London-based Indian filmmaker Jagmohan Mundhra, who directed the actress in the critically acclaimed English movie “Provoked”, also credits her as a superstar with an international appeal.
“She is a superstar. Not only is she a recognised name worldwide; she is a totally bankable star. My personal experience with her from 'Provoked' says that the film wouldn't have worked without her.
“The best thing about her is that despite her stature, she is completely a director's actor. She would also give her inputs in the character and would never come back to see a shot once the director approves it. She is thoroughly professional,” Mundhra added.
Aishwarya, now married to Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, was born in Mangalore to Krishnaraj Rai, a marine biologist, and Vrinda Rai, a writer.
After winning the Miss World crown in 1994, Aishwarya took to acting in 1997 with a Tamil film “Iruvar” opposite southern superstar Mohanlal and made her Bollywood debut in the same year opposite Bobby Deol in "Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya". Both films bombed.
In the following year, she won her first Filmfare Best Actress award South for the Tamil film “Jeans” but became an overnight star with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” in 1999. She bagged the Filmfare Best Actress award for this too.
In 2000, she gave a power packed performance in Subhash Ghai's "Taal" but followed it up with a string of flops like "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai"(2000), "Dhai Akshar Prem Ke"(2000), "Albela" (2001), "Hum Kisise Kum Nahi"(2001) and many more.
In between, she was recognised for her supporting role in Yash Chopra's 2000 hit “Mohabbatein”.
Her career was resurrected in 2002 with Bhansali's “Devdas” fetching her another Filmfare award in the Best Actress category.
She was highly appreciated for her performances in “Chokher Bali"(2002), “Raincoat” (2004), "Guru"(2006), “Dhoom 2” (2006), "Provoked"(2007), “Jodhaa Akbar” (2008) and “Sarkar Raj” (2008).
In her career spanning 11 years, Aishwarya has acted in over 40 movies in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and English. Her English projects included “Bride & Prejudice” (2003), “Mistress of Spices” (2005), and “The Last Legion” (2007).
She is also starring in another international project “Pink Panther 2”, a sequel to the original comedy.
The beauty queen-turned-actress is also counted among the 100 most beautiful women in the world.
Actress Priyanka Chopra feels that “Aishwarya has a perfect face”.
“She is a gorgeous lady, a very elegant person and a great representative of India abroad and I think she has made some great cinema recently. I'd like to watch a lot more of her in films,” Priyanka told IANS.
After her wedding in April last year, Aishwarya has cut down on her projects and has become very choosy too. But critic Adarsh feels it is only due to her “added family responsibilities”.
Currently, the actress is busy shooting with Abhishek in Kochi for Mani Ratnam's forthcoming film tentatively titled “Raavan”.

Ram Gopal Varma's 'Affection' Towards Raasi
This might sound quite a contrast but then there is a high element of truth in it. We are talking about the eccentric genius Ramgopal Varma and recently he shared his thoughts about the sweet looking starlet Raasi who has now moved towards the small screen and lesser known mediums.
Recalling her, Ramu said in a recent interview that it was during the making of the film 'Rao Garillu' starring Akkineni Nageswar Rao that he had first spotted Raasi and during that time, she was just a child artiste. Ramu recollects that whenever he looked at her, he used to have a soft corner for her.
So he used to feel quite affectionate towards Raasi and Ramu admits that he is not a man of too many sentiments and emotions and given his very practical nature, this sort of emotional angle was a major surprise. However, that's the sort of appeal that Raasi possessed during those days that even a cold hearted person like Ramgopal Varma felt a stir.

SRK spills the beans on Salman
Salman-n-Shahrukh showdown at Katrina's birthday bash sparked one of the biggest controversies in Bollywood this year. While Salman had no qualms been vocal about his rift with King Khan, SRK initially opted to dodge the media questions by taking the infamous, “No comments” stand.
The articulate Shahrukh finally decided to break his silence in an interview as the star quoted, “Salman and I are two very different people, and there is not much common ground we share. He is from the film industry and I am from the outside. He's got a way of living, and mine is different. We have houses on the same street, but once you enter our homes, they are very different. Sometimes opposites attract but in our case, there is not much common to really sit down and chat.” Insiders at Kat's party revealed that it was Shahrukh's comments for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan which ticked off Salman, who instantly lost his cool, but SRK openly shunned the rumors by expressing, “I cannot speak ill for any woman ever in my life. I take great amount of pride in the fact that I have a huge amount of respect for women.” SRK even joked that Salman has done the smartest thing by quoting, “I will never forgive SRK.” Prior to the controversy, SRK had shared that he was soon planning to work with Salman.Fans are hoping that the two Khans soon reconcile their differences so they can see the 'Karan-Arjun' jodi back on the big screen.

"Golmaal Returns was a planned move in my career" - Kareena Kapoor
No doubt Kareena Kapoor is the hottest screen queen. She not only manoeuvres the marquee but today commands the kind of enviable position and market price that reminds one of Hema Malini and later Aishwarya Rai.
When Kareena signed on to do the sequel for Golmaal, she just wanted to have fun doing a genre she hadn't tried before. Little did she know that she would become one of the sequel's USPs in no time at all.
Says Kareena, "Golmaal Returns was a planned move in my career. I've done films with an ensemble cast before like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Omkara. But none of that was so much fun. I just want my role to be strong and effective. I've a really funny role. I play Tusshar's sister and my name is Ekta and I only watch Balaji serials the whole day. I play this suspicious housewife who keeps tab on her husband's movements all day long just because she sees women in soaps behaving that way. It's a loud colourful role. I've never done it before. Audiences are going to come out of Golmaal Returns feeling very happy. I don't want to restrict myself to serious cinema. I'd also like to do fun roles."
As the project progressed, Kareena found herself in a position where she could rope in best-friend Amrita Arora into projects. Amrita wangled pivotal roles in two big Kareena projects Golmaal Returns (opposite Arshad) and Sajid Nadiadwala's Kambakth Ishq (opposite Aftab Shivdasani).
Talented as she is, it would be hard to believe that Amrita's presence in these two projects is a mere coincidence.
As the shooting progressed Kareena's stardom got hotter. And her role of the suspicious and jealous housewife addicted to Balaji's Saas -Bahu serials was given the maximum glam quotient.
After the promotional theme track with the entire cast, Kareena shot a whole item number 'Tu Saala To Kaam Se Gaya' to herself.
Recently, another item song 'Meow' was also shot. Initially, this number was planned only for the promotional campaign. But now one hears Kareena's 'Meow' song will be used in the end titles.
Confirming these developments music director Pritam says, "What you've heard is right. I've also heard that the producers plan not to use the 'Saala' song. Both the item songs with Kareena were planned from the outset. The 'Meow' number was meant to go with the end titles."
One reason for this could be the word 'Saala' which many feel may be correct for 'Pappu' in Jaane Tu ....Ya Jaane Na but not Kareena.
Says Pritam. "We had the 'Saala' song in Golmaal Returns from before Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na. But yes I've heard it's going from the narration."
Adds Pritam, "At the moment composing songs for Kareena to perform on screen is a big high for any composer. The turning point in my career were the songs for Kareena in Jab We Met. I composed one item number for Kareena recently in 'Billoo Barber' and now two in Golmaal Returns."

'Ghajini' first look photos creates trouble
This incident can be termed as something that can happen once in a span of 10 lakh years or may be even more.
There is no other way to describe the way this strange occurrence has happened.
The first look images of Aamir Khan's forthcoming film 'Ghajini' has been released and it has the actor exposing his newly toned and beefed up physique and his now famous head design.
However the surprise element of the photographs and which arouses some curiosity are the tattoos that can be seen in his body.
The interesting information is that a phone number presented as one of the tattoos wrecked havoc in the life of a lady named Dr. Sukekha.
After the publicity photos of Aamir were exposed to the public, Dr. Surekha started to get phone calls inquiring her about the Bollywood star.
Later on after trying to know about the reason for the sudden coming of phone calls to her mobile phone, Surekha found out that a number which was written on Aamir's body is her phone number.
During the photo session, one of the assistant directors had written down a random number and he never thought he was writing down a real number.
Well, there is a possibility that quite accidentally numbers can turn out to be same, but what explanation can be given to the way people started to call the actual owner of the number.
Only the observation skills of the common film crazy people can be given as an answer and this incident also echoes out the theory of love for films and film stars being considered equal to a religion in India.

Eesha Koppikhar in Krishnam Vandem Jagathgurum
Eesha+Koppikhar
Eesha Koppikhar who made her debut in tollywood in the year 1999, with “Chandralekha”, later on cemented her place in bollywood as a Khallas girl. Now if the sources have to be believed, she is going to act in the latest movie “Krishnam Vandem Jagath Gurum”. The movie will feature Venkatesh in the lead and will be directed by Gamyam ‘Krish’.
It is a known fact that Venky has sported a pencil beard for the next project Krishnam Vandem Jagathgurum
and is playing the character role of a middle aged man named Krishna.
Earlier, it was reported that Trisha is going to act in this movie and will be available from December 2008. But, now since she is already committed to Tamil film Marmayogi, her presence in this film is doubtful.
So, last week Eesha Koppikhar was considered for this role as she has the right oomph’s appeal and also the looks of a Telugu girl. The confirmation is awaited which will be known by November 1st week. Meanwhile, sources close to Krish report that there is a chance for another female to be roped in and so a hunt for a second heroine is going on.

Suhasini Near Padmalaya Studios Apartment
There was a time when she was just a face among the crowd and was dusky with sulked looks when she came to try her hand at movies. But today, she has put on the right weight, equal style and an even more attractive skin complexion that is making heads turn around and take notice of her.
She is none other than the upcoming actress Suhasini who has been seen in films like Chantigadu, Bhukailas etc and recently she also progressed to appear as a heroine in the Kannada movie and got accolades. Last evening (On Saturday), she had been to an apartment near the Padmalaya studio along with a friend to visit someone, wearing a middy.
Though Suhasini was not conscious and she was very much herself down to earth, her presence created a buzz in the apartment and soon folks were seen looking at her in awe of her sex appeal and glowing skin. Well, despite the right looks nothing seems to be happening for this starlet when it comes to movies. Let us hope things change for better in the future
