From a long time, there has been a hot buzz going over the film circuit over the possible affair between the dynamic music director Devisri Prasad and the charming beauty Charmi. Now, more like an extension to this buzz, there is news that two new NRI producers are trying to cast both Devisri and Charmi together for a movie and this means that it will be a debut attempt for the handsome music director as a hero. Siddharth and Tamanna are doing the lead roles in the film which is the first independent movie of director Srikant who was an associate of V.V.Vinayak.

Ramyakrishna plays the role of Siddharth's mother in the movie being produced by Nallamalapu Srinivas under the banner of Lakshmi Narasimha Productions in association with Suresh Babu's Suresh Productions.

Currently Siddharth, Tamanna, Vijay Samrat and some other cast members are finishing up the canning of a rain song at Saradhi Studios. After the shooting of this song gets over, the cast and crew will move on to Shamshabad International Airport or Ramoji Film City for further shooting.

The makers are planning to complete the production by December and release the movie as a Sankranti gift in January’09.

Genelia D'Souza, Imran Khan's petite and perky co-star in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, brushes off rumours of any relationship with Riteish Deshmukh with a "we're just friends."

Genelia teamed up with Riteish for her first Hindi film Tujhe Meri Kasam and they were seen together once again in Masti. While Tujhe Meri Kasam bit the dust at the box office, Masti hit bull's eye. But the film's success didn't help much in shaping her career.

"I'm very much single. Riteish is a friend. But that's it. I've no idea where these rumours come from. We're both very busy. When we occasionally meet up, we're normal with each other, not the least selfconscious about what's written about us. I'm very new to all this. I've done two films with Riteish - Tujhe Meri Kasam and Masti," Genelia told IANS.

The actress forayed into showbiz with Amitabh Bachchan as her co-star.

"I did a Parker pen ad with him when I was still a kid. It seems I've been acting forever. I started young, yes. In 2003, I had three releases in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Strangely acting was never an option. That ad was directed by Mansoor Khan. He kept me in mind for Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, and here I am," she said.

"Actually Jaane Tu... was being produced by Jhamu Sugandh first. That's when I screen tested for the role of Aditi. I met the director Abbas Tyrewala and he almost finalised me. But he needed bulk dates from me and I was busy down South. He wanted to shoot at a stretch. I couldn't do that.

"Then one day I got a call from Aamir Khan's office. Abbas wanted a complete newcomer. But Aamir wanted a girl who suited the character. The next thing I knew, I was on board."

Genelia said she was never that keen on an acting career.

"But when I saw how I was appreciated down South, I fell in love with the industry. I've been lucky. I didn't plan anything. I've never contacted a single producer. So far it's been an awesome journey."

After Tamil and Telugu, Genelia has just made her debut in a Kannada film.

"I'm sure I'll be able to dub in all the South Indian languages soon. I know I can do it. I just need to get the slangs and colloquialisms correct. Honestly, I need to dub my own lines in the South to give complete performances."

Like Asin, Genelia is now dividing her time between Bollywood and the South.

"I'm getting a lot of calls in Mumbai. I want to balance it out. But the priority would be Hindi films right now because I've worked really long in the South. But my South Indian films are also very important.

"I get very satisfying roles in Tamil and Telugu. And I can't let them go. Let's just say I'll do one film down South for every two films I do here. In any case, they wrap up their films superfast down South.

"I also had fun doing Priyadarshan's Mere Baap Pehle Aap. I enjoy doing films in all languages and genres."

She said that her commitment to southern directors affected her Bollywood career.

"I got busy with the South; that's the only reason why it took me so long to get noticed in Bollywood. There's a buzz about Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na ecause it was Imran's debut film."

Right now she is busy shooting for It's My Life with Harman Baweja. It is a Hindi remake of Telugu hit, Bommarilu.

"I've done the original in Telugu. Then I also did the remake in Tamil. Now I'm doing it in Hindi. The Tamil and Telugu versions were similar. But the Hindi version is very different. Today, both the South and Hindi are high-potential industries for me. I'm still a newcomer in Bollywood."

The soon to be released movie 'King' having Nagarjuna in the lead role and directed by the super hit director Sreenu Vytla is being wrapped up fast. Around 60 percent of the shooting has been completed.

The next schedule for canning a song and a chase sequence will start today and will continue till October 4 in Ooty. After that Bangalore will be the location for the next schedule from 5th Oct to 4th Nov, in which all the cast members will be involved. Some songs are also being planned to be shot in Turkey and Dubai.

There is no need to say about the expectations of the film lovers when the movie's hero is Nagarjuna. But one another reason that has fueled the rising expectations is the first time pairing of Trisha with the Tollywood hero. Dr. Srihari will be seen in the movie in a special role.

Brahmanandam, Venu Madav, Deepak, Suneel, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Chandra Mohan, Krishna Bhagvan, M.S.Narayan, Shayaji Shinde, Jaiprakash Reddy and AVS are the important actors in 'King'.

Mahesh Babu and director Trivikram’s film is finally going to the sets. From October 15th, it will begin its regular shoot in the deserts of Middle East. Bahrain, the island country in the Persian Gulf, is the place chosen for its first schedule. According to our sources, the unit will be leaving to Bahrain to shoot the major action episodes there in the deserts. Two song would also be canned there on Mahesh and Parvati Melton. Manisharma is scoring the music.

After finishing the Bahrain schedule, the unit will straight away head for Rajasthan and complete another schedule there. The film is a romantic action drama. Search for another heroine is on as Tamanna expressed her displeasure for giving her second lead.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in Tampa, Fla., the NFL and NBC announced Sunday night.

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, scheduled to visit the capital Sunday for promotionals ahead of his forthcoming "Drona", decided to postpone his trip after a blast in south Delhi Saturday, publicists said.

Bachchan was to visit the Radio Mirchi and address a press briefing, but the trip was cancelled, the FM radio station as well as the publicists organising the media interaction said late Saturday.

Sanjay Dutt plays 'Sattarbhai', a bully who collects loan instalments from bank debtors, in his forthcoming film "EMI". The character has been inspired by a real-life collecting agent and the Bollywood actor spent a lot of time with him to get his act right.

"Sanju sir's character is modelled on a real-life agent. In fact, the whole film's plot about all these debt collectors who have the thankless job of getting bank loans back from debtors was inspired by the real-life Sattarbhai," said TV tsarina Ekta Kapoor, who is co-producing the film with Suniel Shetty.

The real-life character's identity is, however, being kept a secret right now.

Said Suniel Shetty: "We don't want the real Sattarbhai to come into the picture until Sanju baba's fictional avatar is properly unveiled to the public."

Sanjay Dutt met, interacted with and studied the real-life Sattarbhai very closely to get into the skin of the character. And he was glad that he wasn't playing an underworld gangster yet again.

"This is my most seriously funny and socially relevant character since Munnabhai. And I'm happy to be doing something that doesn't require me to go into the underworld," he quipped.

As for the real Sattarbhai, he is free to share the thrill of the film unless he suddenly decides to demand a bigger share in the movie's investments.

This isn't the first time this question has cropped up. When Preity Zinta played a real-life battered wife in Deepa Mehta's "Heaven On Earth", the woman who inspired the character suddenly came forward to demand a huge amount of money.

"She demanded an obscenely astronomical sum of money that really put Deepa Mehta off," a member of the "Heaven On Earth" team said.

However, producers Ekta and Suniel seem pretty sure their real character won't suddenly demand his pound of flesh.

"He's more than happy to be a role model for a character that Sanju baba is playing. We'll include him in the promotional events of 'EMI' very soon," said Suniel.

There's also the debate of "EMI" sharing its title with the international music label. Any copyright hassles on the anvil?

"But we've registered our title. And EMI is accepted bank jargon, short for Equated Monthly Instalments. If EMI is a music company, then we're glad to be keeping such musical company," Suniel joked.

Just six days left for her big release, Vidya sounds all pumped up in this Bollywood Hungama exclusive as she talks in depth to its London correspondent Devansh Patel about Kidnap, Kissing and the two Khan's...Gadhavi and Dutt included.

From playing hockey in Chak De India to playing a mother in Kidnap. What a transition?
(Laughs) It was a real sweet thing what Mr. Sanjay Gadhavi did. He called me on my birthday to wish me and that is when I had just finished shooting Chak De. He said, "Happy Birthday to you. There is a gift I'd like to give you if you'd like to take it. Why don't you come to the office and meet me. There is a film I am doing and it's the only love story in the film. Why don't you come down and read it with me. It's opposite Sanjay Dutt". I said, "Ok. I'll come down and read my part". Gadhavi then adds, "It's a part of the mother". Initially I did question Sanjay Gadhavi whether my part was good or not but he assured me that it was a nice. I've known Gadhavi for a really long time. I remember the first audition that I ever did in the industry was for his film Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and we've been in touch ever since. It was obviously a pleasure working with him now in Kidnap.

Tell us about your rapport with your husband in the film Sanjay Dutt. I heard you guys don't get along well together.
Ha ha ha. Initially I was nervous. I've never met Sanjay Dutt before and he's like this 'deadly Dutt' a 'deadly giant'. So rugged from the exterior but sweet and soft spoken from the inside. He made me really comfortable with everything. He told me to just chill around and do whatever I felt like doing on the sets. No need to get worried about anything.

Take us a bit into your flashback story.
There is some of my story in the flashback and also in the present. The flashback shows us as a couple and in the present, we are not a couple any more but due to some unfortunate circumstances we have to come together and how from hating each other we eventually come together. It's a small little flashback.

When I opened the papers this morning, I hear this story about your kissing scene with Sanjay Dutt. Why such a fuss Vidya?
I don't know. I can't understand what the controversy is all about. I can't really say anything. I haven't seen the film yet but the kissing scene is there. It's a scene, which is really well shot, and you may miss it as it's just there for a split second. It's a miss kiss and it's barely there. It's stupid to talk about something like this. Secondly, it's about two people falling in love. I mean, doesn't a kiss normally happen with two people who love each other so much or what? The Press needs to grow up a little bit and don't make like a big deal out of it. I keep telling Gadhavi that I'm dead sure that half the crowd is going to miss the scene anyway as it comes right after the intermission.

Did Sanjay Gadhavi call you after reading the news?
He was under the impression that I told the Press about the kissing scene. But I cleared the misunderstanding that it wasn't me. I don't think it's a big deal anyway.

But Kidnap isn't the only film which has kissing scenes. Gadhavi's Dhoom 2 also landed up in a big controversy.
Absolutely. As far as I can recall, there was a nice romantic scene in Siddharth Anand's Salaam Namaste and Bachna Ae Haseeno had Ranbir kissing all the beautiful ladies. So what's the big fuss really?

If your daughter in the film looks so sexy, I bet the mother will be worth a watch.
(Laughs) If you're talking about bikinis in Kidnap then 'No'. That's not happening. In terms of a glam mom, she is completely glamorous and sexy. My look is more from Chanel to Armani to Zara kind of a feel. So it's very rich. I'm obviously playing a character much older than my age. So she can't be all over the place you know. She looks nice because she is a rich man's wife and a well kept woman of today. And I am not wearing a bikini (laughs).

Did you get a chance to share screen space with Imran Khan?
None at all with Imran and only one scene with Minissha.

Will you be seen throughout in the film or are there only bits and pieces of you?
Yes I am there throughout the film. Actually, I'm going to watch it in a day or two and then I'll be able to tell you better (laughs).

What are your expectations from Kidnap?
Very high. Right now I'm nervous. When Sanjay Gadhavi says that you have done a good job in the film means that he is happy with your performance. But I am very critical about myself that until I see it, I'll always find something wrong with me. I am restless right now too.

You've worked with SRK and now with Sanjay Dutt. Two of Hindi film's best actors around. Are you over the moon?
Of course. Sanjay Dutt has been an inspiration. SRK is so much of energy; so much of focus and just the aura around him is immaculate. You receive so much from him as an actor. In terms of Sanjay Dutt, he was going through a very bad patch in time and there was a time when I didn't even know if the film would see the light of the day or not but Sanju baba never got any of his worries on the sets. He was still the kind and a gentle person that he is. He would do his job and then go back home. I've never seen Sanjay Dutt scream or yell. He was very patient.

Do you think Kidnap should be dedicated to Sanjay Dutt?
I think the film belongs to him and every single person who has worked on the film. I don't think one person can make or break a film really. But a big part of Kidnap is Mr Sanjay Dutt. I respect him totally for what he has gone through and the way he has come out shining, Kidnap truly belongs to him if not dedicated.

Even though you haven't got a scene with Imran in Kidnap, how do you rate him after Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na and now Kidnap?
Imran Khan is a complete rockstar. You put him in anything and he'll do justice to his role. He is so much like his mamu Aamir Khan. He does a lot of homework, works on his look and body language. And he is so so good looking. I've seen girls going crazy about him.

Any clichéd message for your fans?
(Laughs) Please watch Kidnap. I loved the script and I'm sure you'll love the film. People keep on asking me, 'Comedy ka daur chal raha hai aur aap yeh kaunsi film kar rahe ho?' But I only reply back by saying, 'Good films are in whether it's a comedy or a thriller or whatever'. Kidnap is a good film and of course, do watch it because it's got hotties like the Dutt and the Khan and Minissha and yeah...me.

Tinsel-town denizens have been dishing out entertainment both on and off screen for the last three quarters of year 2008, but the heavy-weights who have been saving the best for the traditional festive season include Salman Khan starrer "Yuvraj", Aamir Khan's "Ghajini" and Abhishek Bachchan's "Dostana".

October has an impressive, heavy-duty line up of films that have approximately Rs.50 crore riding on each one of them. Starting Friday with release of Abhishek-Priyanka Chopra's "Drona" and the current favourite Imran Khan starrer "Kidnap", the months ahead will witness films from the biggest stars of Bollywood.

Other biggies lined up for release are - Akshay Kumar's "Chandni Chowk to China", Salman's "Yuvraj", Aamir's "Ghajini", Abhishek's "Dostana" and "Delhi 6" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi".

It has been a sunshine year so far with many small and medium budget films hitting the bull’s eye even though there were some major disappointments from big production houses.

The slew of low cost films that left a mark both on connoisseurs of good cinema as well as box office include “Mithya”, “Jannat”, “Aamir”, “Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na”, “Phoonk”, “Rock On!”, “A Wednesday” and even the very unexpected “1920”.

The year started on a slow mode with the half yearly report card for Bollywood showing only four films in the list of hits. In the first quarter of 2008, it was “Race” and “Jodhaa Akbar”, while in the second quarter it was “Jannat” which sent cash registers ringing. “Sarkar Raj” was also slightly above average performer in some select circuits.

A major contributing factor, besides bad marketing and content, was that April-May months were dominated by the Indian Premier League which knocked the wind out of all other forms of recreation including the small-screen tsarina Ekta Kapoor’s soap-operas.

According to trade observer Amod Mehra, the soaring prices of multiplex tickets are also to blame for the very high loss ratio.

“People are not willing to shell out big bucks for films that they are not sure will be ‘paisa vasool’,” he said.

The audience became even more cautions when much-hyped film like Yash Raj Films’ “Tashan” bit the dust. For this reason perhaps other films that had strong star presence like Amitabh Bachchan’s “Bhootnath” could not entice audiences to part with their hard-earned money.

While it is a given that box-office collections are not the only venue for filmmakers and distributors to make up for their investment, it continues to be a good barometer for intrinsic quality of the film.

It took Akshay, Katrina Kaif starrer “Singh is Kinng” to bring back audiences to cinema halls. The tale of a good-hearted bumbling Sikh reaffirmed faith of filmmakers in the comedy genre as most of comic capers released this year had failed at the turnstiles.

That it was followed up quickly with the well-packaged Yash Raj Film’s Ranvir Kapoor’s “Bachna Ae Haseeno” helped the cause further and also came as a face saver for the industrious production house.

The good run that started with “Singh is Kinng” is continuing even now with films like “1920” that had evoked little or no expectations managing to stay afloat.

Let's see which other films will turn into blockbusters in the festive season.

Director Karan Johar, who walked the ramp here for his designer friend Rohit Bal at the Chivas Fashion Tour, says he prefers wearing ethnic sherwani than westerns on such occasions.

"I can't say I'm crazy about the idea of being a model. And please, it's not about modelling at all. It's about just lending my name to a friend who happens to be a dress designer. And this time it was a dear designer friend Rohit Bal who invited me to wear his couture," Karan told IANS.

"If I have to walk the ramp I prefer wearing ethnic to western. I've walked the ramp before. In fact the last time I did so was last year for the same fashion event, and it was again for a dear friend Nandita Mahtani. So you can say it's very hard for me to say no to friends. I guess it's better to walk the ramp than face the camera," he added.

Karan, who was seen as an overweight guy in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge", is astonished at the amount of weight he has lost over the years.

"I can't believe I'm today seen to be slim enough to walk the ramp. I remember a time as a very fat child when I'd fool my mother into believing it's my friends' birthday. I'd buy a one-pound cake, hide and eat the whole thing at one go. My turning point was when I saw my fat self on TV receiving the best director's award for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'," said Karan.

As for directors rubbing shoulders with top actors and models, Karan said: "I'm flattered. And like I said I prefer walking the ramp. I hate acting. I never want to act."

As far as his role as producer and director is concerned -- Dharma Productions' next big release is Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra starrer "Dostana". It is being directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

Apart from that Karan is gearing up to direct "My Name Is Khan" with Shah Rukh Khan.
