Britney Spears Surprises All

HOLLYWOOD - There's been a lot of talk the past few weeks about whether or not Britney Spears would be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards--she did in fact take to the stage!

A year after her disastrous perfomance at the VMAs, Spears opted not to perform and instead made a brief introduction kicking off the awards show saying:

"Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now."

Spears came across as shy while shielding her face with the microphone and making herself barely visible to the audience.

Her lackluster introduction didn't impeed on her VMA nominations--Spears went home with three 'Moonmen' awards.
